Titanium posts placed in the jawbone to replace missing tooth roots, supporting a custom crown, bridge, or denture for a stable, long-term result.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a missing tooth root. Once the bone has integrated with it (osseointegration), the implant supports a crown, bridge, or denture on top — restoring the visible tooth and the load-bearing function underneath. Dr. Jill Rowland places implants in-house at Diamond Dentistry in Wellington, FL.
Implants are an option whenever a tooth has been lost or needs to be removed and you want a long-term replacement that does not rely on grinding down adjacent teeth (as a traditional bridge would) or sit removable in your mouth (as a denture would). Candidacy depends on having enough jawbone to anchor the post; if bone volume is short, Dr. Rowland can plan a graft as part of the treatment.
Long service life with proper care
Slows the bone resorption that follows tooth loss
Does not require modifying neighboring teeth
Stable enough that chewing feels close to a natural tooth
Looks and feels like the rest of your dentition
After imaging and a planning visit, Dr. Rowland surgically places the titanium post in the jaw. The bone integrates with the implant over a healing period of typically a few months, during which a temporary may be worn. Once integration is complete, the final restoration — crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture — is fitted and seated.
The same platform supports a range of restorations: a single implant + crown for one missing tooth, an implant-supported bridge for two or three teeth in a row, or implant-supported dentures and All-on-X for full-arch replacement. Dr. Rowland will recommend the configuration that fits your situation.
A coordinated plan that rebuilds health, function, and appearance across multiple teeth using crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, or grafts as needed.
A full-arch tooth replacement supported by roughly four implants per arch — a fixed alternative to a traditional removable denture.
A fixed restoration that fills a gap of one or more missing teeth, anchored to neighboring teeth or to dental implants for natural-feeling chewing.
