What Is Available

• Nitrous oxide (often called laughing gas) — a light inhaled sedative that takes effect within minutes and wears off just as quickly, so most patients can drive themselves home after the visit. Available today.

• IV moderate sedation — on the roadmap. Dr. Rowland holds her parenteral (IV moderate) conscious sedation credential and is finishing the matching Florida state license. As soon as the state issues it, Diamond Dentistry will be able to provide IV sedation directly in our Wellington office for longer surgical and complex visits.

How It Works

Ahead of any sedation, Dr. Rowland reviews your medical history and walks you through what the visit will feel like before, during, and after. Nitrous oxide flows through a soft, breathable nose hood and starts working within minutes; once the procedure ends, it clears in roughly the same amount of time. When IV moderate sedation comes online, it will go in through a thin IV line started at the beginning of the visit and titrated to the depth the case calls for.
